Postdocl Position: Ecosystem-Climate Interactions and Modelling

A post-doctoral research opportunity is available in the Global Change Research Group(cooperator is Prof. Dr. Shusen Wang), Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), to conduct leading edge research in ecosystem carbon, nitrogen and water cycles and their responses to climate change for different ecosystems in Southwest China.

Candidates with a PhD in ecology, hydrology, climate or other related fields are encouraged to apply. Knowledge and research experience in ecosystem modelling, remote sensing, and GIS are desired. Successful applicants will have a strong track record of quality research as evidenced by publications in high-quality scientific journals as well as experience working with multi-disciplinary teams. The candidate should be under the age of 35 for the first time postdoctoral research applicants.

The position will be for two years, with possible extension depending on funding renewal. The working location is at Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Kunming, China. Salary is RMB180,000 per year.

About the Global Change Research Group in XTBG, CAS

The Global Change Research Group in XTBG/CAS has been playing a leading role in conducting long-term ecosystem-climate studies for various ecosystems in southwest China.

The group is currently operating 7 eddy correlation flux tower systems across tropical rainforests, rubber plantations, subtropical evergreen forests and semiarid savanna ecosystems in Southwest China. The group has been also carrying out experiments under controlled environments, such as drought control study in tropical rainforest and semi- arid savannas, effect of soil warming on soil respiration in subtropical and sub-alpine forests in China, and 15N tracer field research in tropical rainforest and subtropical evergreen forest.

Additionally, the group has natural 13C studies in tropical rainforest, rubber plantation, subtropical evergreen forest and semiarid savanna. The group has research collaborations with a large number of domestic and overseas institutes and universities.
