The 19th Neogene Climate Evolution in Eurasia (NECLIME) Annual Meeting was held in Saint Petersburg (Russia) at the Komarov Botanical Instititute of the Russian Academy of Sciences from 23rd to 27th September, 2019. The meeting brought together 50 representatives from 10 countries.

The scientific program contains such topics as palaeoclimate and vegetation evolution of Northern Eurasia, Central Asia, Plio-Pleistocene palaeobotanical records of Northern Eurasia, high-latitude climates and vegetation, etc.

Prof. Zhou Zhekun led four young researchers of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) and Kunming Institute of Botany (KIB) to present at the meeting. He also chaired a session there.

The presentations by XTBG and KIB researchers are as following:

Zhou Zhekun  Tibet was the crossroad of floristic exchange in Paleogene

Xing Yaowu  Long distance dispersal or dispersal through land bridges? —— An integrated biogeographic study of Juglandaceae based on molecular and fossil evidence

Wang Tengxiang Fossil involucres of Ostrya (Betulaceae) in the early Oligocene Yunnan and their biogeographic implications

Huang Yongjiang  Fossil charcoals indicate a local wildfire in a coniferous mixed forest from the late Pliocene of southeastern Tibetan Plateau

Neogene Climate Evolution in Eurasia (NECLIME) is an international network since 1999 focusing on paleoclimatic patterns through time and space including interactions between paleogeography, vegetation and fauna combined with modelling approaches. It aims to obtain a better understanding of long-term palaeoclimate processes in mid latitudes.
