Meet nature's wonder in Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden

[InKunming-Yunnan] From July 1 to August 31, Xihuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden will usher in what is known as the "lotus admiring period". Visitors are able to appreciate victoria cruziana (a giant lotus) at daytime and see sparkling fireflies at night.

Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden, Chinese Academy of Sciences is located in Mengla county, Xishuangbanna Dai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province. It is the largest botanical garden in China with the most abundant species of plant. It is also a tourist destination and comprehensive research center that includes scientific research, species conservation and science education.

The victoria cruziana has the largest leaf among aquatic plant, with a maximum diameter of 3 meters. The upward leaf edge is curly, like the shape of boat. It can hold the weight of 70 kilograms, so that children can easily sit on.

Besides victoria cruziana, fireflies is also a highlight of the botanical garden. The twinkling fireflies are like stars in dark nights. They fly above lakes and across trees, which will become an unforgettable scenery in visitors' minds forever.
