The General Assembly 2018 of the European Geosciences Union was held in Vienna, Austria during April 8-13. It was a great success with 4,776 oral, 11,128 poster, and 1,419 PICO presentations. 666 unique scientific sessions together with 68 short courses and 294 side events.

Prof. Liu Wenjie and Prof. Shen Youxin of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) presented their research work.

Prof. Liu Wenjie made an oral presentation entitled “Are rubber-based agroforestry systems effective in controlling rain splash erosion?” at the Session of Hydrological Sciences.

Prof. Shen Youxin made a poster presentation entitled “Rock outcrops shape soil surface water distribution at Karst- implication for plants and subterranean geography”.

ABOUT

The ECS General Assembly 2018 includes special scientific and interdisciplinary events as well as oral, PICO, and poster sessions on disciplinary and interdisciplinary topics covering the full spectrum of the geosciences and the space and planetary sciences. Furthermore, medal lectures, great debates, short courses, townhall meetings, and splinter meetings complete the overall program.
