"Children's Art Exhibition: Contemporary Art in Resonance" was officially launched in the reception hall of Environmental Education Center of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) from July 15 to August 31. The exhibition was curated by Kriss Wong, a Malaysian artist.

The artworks on display include collage art, doodle art, abstract art and watercolor paintings, produced by the schoolchildren of Longlin Primary School in Mengla County, Xishuangbanna Prefecture.

This exhibition mainly focuses on contemporary art, showing the artistic possibilities of the schoolchildren from the remote mountainous area under the guidance of the artist. There are six pieces of collage artworks, which depict the combination of fashion and contemporary art. The students injected a sense of humor in the interpretations of the collaged portraits.

Mother Nature was chosen as the theme for the doodle art. The schoolchildren live in the mountainous area, with nature keeping them company. Therefore, they have special connection with nature. They used vivid colors to express the sense of harmony in the world of flora and fauna, showing the fullness of visual satisfaction.

There are two abstract paintings exhibited, which show the schoolchildren's imaginations and expressiveness, with a unique sense of eternity and modernity.

The exhibition also has an Interactive area called "let's doodle together!" There is a blackboard on the wall, which gives visitors a chance to show their artistic talents and participate in doodle art. In addition, the exhibition also has a photo wall showing the schoolchildren's daily lives in the school. Almost every day, there are new works shown in the interaction area.

These artworks were collected by Kriss Wong from 2015 to 2019 during her five years’ involvement in art and cultural exchange program implemented in Longlin Primary School.

The program gave the children the opportunities to show their rich imaginations and artistic talents. For the teenagers and children in the remote area, this is not only an unforgettable learning experience, but also an opportunity to look at nature and themselves from different perspectives.
