XTBG History Museum opens to the public

After upgrade and renovation, the History Museum of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) opens to the public again on January 3, as part of celebration for the 60th anniversary. 

First established in 1984 (i.e. the 25th founding anniversary of XTBG), the History Museum features the development history of the garden over the past 60 years. 

As the time for axis, the museum shares stories of unremitting efforts that generations of XTBG staffs have made to turn the wasteland into a famous botanical garden. It features interactive exhibitions, and vast collections of books, papers, manuscripts, photography, documents, and other artifact.   

Through exhibitions, artistic endeavors, education, collections, it works to help people understand the history of XTBG, the importance of the past in shaping its future. It is also complementary to show the history of introducing and cultivation of important medicinal plants, oil plants, aromatic and spice plants, valuable fast-growing species, such as dragon blood trees, hodgsonia squash, camphor oil tree, mytenus plants, and inca peanut, etc.  

On the opening day, some CAS academicians, XTBG staff, retires, and tourists visited the museum.
