Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) is on the list front, second only to Five-hundred-meter Aperture Spherical radio Telescope (FAST) in Guizhou.

The National Tourism Administration and Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) worked together to select ten best scientific attractions from around the country based on criteria like environmental capacity, infrastructure and market potential.

The move is part of their effort to push supply-side reform in the tourism sector and promote the combination of tourism with science and technology.

The launch of the first batch of China's top ten science and technology tourism base is conducive to promote integrative development of tourism industry and science & technology. It aims to make S& T support tourism development, and tourism promotes science communication in parallel. Moreover, it aims to create a new atmosphere for S&T tourism development.
