Plagiopteron suaveoleas is extremely endangered in the wild and the few extant plants are in need of protection. These days, an individual of Plagiopteron suaveoleas is blooming at the Vine Garden of Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG).
Plagiopteron suaveoleas is scattered in Burma, Thailand and China. The population in China has flowers in blooming throughout a year, but flowers fall after blooming, and very few fruits and no seeds have been found to develop.
The blooming individual was introduced to XTBG in 2009 from Ruili, Yunnan.
